Workshop Facilitator : Bruno Boudjelal
In March 2015, the Agence Algérienne pour le Rayonnement Culturel (AARC) and the Institut français d’Algérie teamed up to organise a pho- tography workshop destined for the young talents of Algerian photography. The idea behind this Franco-Algerian cooperative project was to support and promote the work of young Algerian artists. This workshop was led by the Franco-Algerian photographer Bruno Boudjelal at the Villa Abd-el-Tif in Algiers.
This was the first time that Bruno Boudjelal, a celebrated photographer who has won numerous accolades, shared his expertise with the emerging talents of Algerian photography. The training programme was an opportunity for young Algerian photographers to work toward the creation of a series. The theme chosen was that of the Bamako Encounters : Telling Time
Sixteen Algerian photographers were able to participate in this workshop : Farouk Abbou, Bestaoui Arslane, Mehdi Boubekeur, Chenane Abdelhafid, Hamza Filali, Walid Kameli, Lola Khalfa, Madi Bilel, Rahiche Abdelhamid, Nassim Rouchiche, Sahraoui Fethi, Sihem Salhi, Mustapha Sellali, Skenazene Raouf, Osama Tabti, and Nazim Karim Tidafi.
Among these sixteen young talents, three were selected for the International Exhibition at the 10th edition of the Bamako Encounters. These three were Lola Khalfa, Sihem Salhi, and Nassim Rouchiche.
